Jesus, Savior of Men

Jesus, Savoir of Men

1st John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world.

This window was given in 1911 by the Kieffer family in memory of Emma Kieffer, daughter of John and Margretha Schmidt Kieffer. Emma was born January 15, 1862 and died December 6, 1886.

Margretha Schmidt Kieffer was born in Germany. She married John Kieffer in 1856. In 1887 Margretha came to Mount Clemens from Buffalo, New York, to take the baths here in Mount Clemens. She stayed and developed a small hotel on East Broadway (now North River Road) into a showplace catering to world famous celebrities. The hotel was renamed the Park and in 1892 a bathhouse was added to it, becoming the fourth bathhouse in Mount Clemens. When Mrs. Kieffer died on May 19, 1911, she left the hotel to her daughter, Julia Kieffer MacArthur and the bathhouse to her son, George Kieffer.
